SACRAMENTO, California — Sacramento police department said, a pregnant mother and her son were sent to the hospital with serious injuries Sunday night after a shooting,

The shooting took place at almost 10:00 p.m. on 73rd Street and 14th Avenue, police said.

“We believe that our victim and the 5-year-old child were in their vehicle, driving through the neighborhood. We believe that there was another vehicle that was also driving through the area, and gunshots broke out, potentially from that other vehicle,” Sgt. Matthew McPhail said.

Officers set up a police presence late Sunday night on 79th Street and Lacam Circle, where the victims called the police.

A brown Toyota is being searched for with at least one-armed suspect in connection with the shooting, police said.

Both woman and her child are predicted to have non-life threatening injuries and will survive.

There are no other details concerning the accident at this moment.
