Sacramento, California—-A 14-year-old bicyclist died after a hit-and-run crash.
The tragedy happened in the Arden-Arcade area, according to California Highway Patrol. The victim was identified by the family as De ’Sean Rowe-Manns, a freshman at Miraloma High School.
The 14-year-old teenager was hit by a vehicle early Wednesday morning on Watt Avenue. The boy suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital.
De’Sean was pronounced dead later that day in the hospital. His mother Nancy Mann is going to bury her second youngest child. She described his son as someone charismatic. De’Sean was a dancer.
Before he left the house, the mother said they had a disagreement. Hours later, she got the news on her son that broke her heart.
Heartbroken mother said she lost her sleep, her appetite, and every time she closes her eyes she imagines how the car hits her son.
California Highway Patrol officers returned to Watt Avenue on Thursday, 24 hours after the hit-and-run. Officers blocked the traffic to gather more evidence.
The driver fled away after hitting a bicyclist. Officer Make Zerfas said they would like to find the driver. The officers are looking for a minivan-or SUV-type vehicle, probably dark in color.
‘’How could you hit my baby and leave him laying the street like a piece of trash’’, mother questioned. She also begged the driver to do the right thing, to surrender.
